About Stations of the Cross

Stations is a dedicated companion for the Way of the Cross. Every prayer and meditation is free to read. You do not need an account to pray, add an intention, or keep your place on your device.

The prayers

The traditional devotion uses the meditations of St. Alphonsus Liguori. The Scriptural sequence follows the Gospel-based Way of the Cross used by St. John Paul II. Other editions draw on Franciscan spirituality and St. Leonard of Port Maurice, or offer contemporary reflections and an accessible version for children.

Traditional scenes and direct Gospel events are distinguished in the station guide. The contemporary editions are devotional compositions, not official liturgical texts. Available translations vary by tradition; the app falls back to English where a translation has not been prepared.

The artwork

The fourteen images come from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Open Access collection. The original works are in the public domain. Artist and date are shown with each station; the pictures are companions to meditation and do not always depict the exact traditional scene.

The narration

Narration is produced using an AI-generated version of the creator’s voice. Optional audio is a one-time purchase; it does not make the prayer texts paid. Recording availability is shown by tradition and language. Download available narration before relying on it offline.

Your prayer stays yours

Your place, reading preferences, and completion history are stored on your device. An intention stays in the current prayer session. Optional account features can synchronize history. Read the privacy policy for details.
